A 15-year-old girl has been arrested by the Borno State Police Command for allegedly disposing a newborn baby’s body in a pit toilet at the Charamari Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp in Monguno Local Government Area.
According to a post by security analyst Zagazola Makama on his official X handle on Friday, the incident occurred on Thursday, and the girl, identified as Yafalmata Alhaji Mustapha, was taken into custody after the body was discovered in the early hours of the morning.
“Police and medical experts visited the scene where photographs were taken,” Makama stated.
The infant’s body was evacuated to the General Hospital in Monguno, where the baby was confirmed dead on arrival by a medical doctor.
The corpse was subsequently deposited at the hospital morgue for autopsy.
Following the examination, the body was released to the Chairman of the Charamari IDP Camp for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.
