The Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigerian Police Force have arrested at least 20 suspects in connection with the hacking of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results.
The suspects are believed to be part of a syndicate of over 100 individuals specializing in hacking examination bodies’ servers, including JAMB and NECO.
The syndicate allegedly installed software on examination body hardware that remotely hacked JAMB servers at targeted CBT centers.
The hacking process was designed to influence high scores for special candidates who paid between N700,000 and N2 million.
Preliminary investigations revealed that several members of the syndicate own private schools and colleges, generating huge sums of money from their special centers.
