The Borno Urban Development Board on Friday, opened the New Nigerian Peoples Party’s Maiduguri office on Governor Babagana Zulum’s orders.
The board summoned the police to the office on Thursday to ensure the proper sealing of the party secretariat, which it claimed violated the law due to its location in a residential area.
Zulum, on the other hand, overruled the board, claiming that its action was “wrongly timed” because the NNPP presidential candidate, Dr Musa Kwankwaso, is scheduled to visit Borno State and the party office on Saturday.
Confirming the reopening of the office, NNPP’s Chairman in Borno, Malam Mohammed Mustafa, said Zulum’s intervention had brought smiles to the faces of members.
The question is, who gave Borno urban board to seal the opposition office without consent of the executive Governor?
