Confirming speculations about his unsure footings ahead 2023 general elections, former Senate President, Special envoy to Atiku Abubakar, People’s Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Sen. Bukola Saraki, has promised reward to his followers only after they deliver their respective booths on election day.
Dr. Saraki whose political fortunes in his home state of Kwara nosedived in 2019, made this declaration on Thursday at the Mandate Hall, Ilorin, during the inauguration of an 850-man campaign council to execute the 2023 general elections in the state.
Truth Live News correspondent/Deputy Editor who was at the venue reports that the former Governor, for the first time would play opposition in Kwara state while neither being a political office holder nor being a member of the ruling party at the federal level.
The former President of the Nigerian Senate and two-term Governor of Kwara state, since his defeat in 2019, has been rather a low key in his political activities with speculations having it in Ilorin that he is keener about winning back the state than any interest in what happens at the presidential election.
Addressing party members at the Mandate Hall of the party in Ilorin, Mr. Saraki charged to work towards reclaiming political power from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
In his words: “We’ve learnt our lesson in 2019 and we’re going to remedy it all in 2023 to ensure a landslide victory for all our candidates.
“Go and deliver your booths and leave the rest for God and me.
“I want to assure you that every member would get deserving benefits for work done to win in each polling booth,” the former mover and shaker of Kwara politics further stressed amidst grumblings and resonants among some of the supporters who were seen reverberating, with some asking if they were going to deliver their units with empty hands and words of promises.
