Former presidential aide Reno Omokri has cautioned the North against backing Peter Obi to clinch the opposition coalition’s ticket, alleging that Obi won’t keep his promises to Northerners if elected.

Omokri reacted to Obi’s remark that he would agree to be president for one term and hand over to the North, noting that there was no agreement for a joint ticket with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

“If Arewa makes the mistake of backing the coalition and giving their Presidential ticket to Peter Obi, exactly what happened to Northern Cameroon after Ahmadou Ahidjo resigned on November 4, 1982, is what will happen to Northern Nigeria,” Omokri warned.

Omokri also questioned Obi’s commitment to his promises, over his inability to condemn IPOB’s sit-at-home order and his appointment of coordinators from other regions for his campaign in Sokoto and Lagos states.

“A man who could not keep a promise to Ojukwu will now stay true to his pledge to Arewa?” Omokri asked.

Omokri assured the North that they have a friend in President Bola Tinubu, who showed loyalty by standing with them.
