The Special Adviser to the Edo State Governor on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Sally Suleiman, has rated the state governor, Monday Okpebholo and his deputy, Dennis Idahosa high in infrastructural development of the state, saying, it has never been so good as it is at the moment.

She said this while congratulating them on their one year anniversary in the state as governor and deputy governor, respectively.

Mrs. Suleiman said their commitments to the SHINE Agenda and their focus on practical, people-centered governance have been so rewarding.

Suleiman described the administration’s first year as “a season of renewed progress, hope, and transformation across Edo State.”

She highlighted notable achievements that have marked the first year of the Okpebholo–Idahosa administration as renovation and reconstruction of over 60 public schools, giving pupils and teachers a more conducive learning environment, employment of new teachers and ongoing investment in education as a foundation for Edo’s future.

Others are prompt and consistent payment of salaries and pensions, reflecting the government’s deep respect for workers and retirees, approval of a N1 billion bursary fund for Edo indigenes in tertiary institutions, easing the financial burden on students and families.

He also listed renovation of public healthcare facilities and improved access to essential health services across the three senatorial districts, construction of Edo State’s first-ever flyover in Benin City — a historic milestone that signals infrastructural renewal and urban growth.

Others include ongoing construction and rehabilitation of major roads that are reconnecting communities and stimulating commerce, strengthening of the state’s security framework, with the procurement of 55 Toyota Hilux vans, 16 Toyota Prado jeeps, and 300 motorbikes to boost patrol and rapid response capacity.

Suleiman praised Governor Okpebholo for his leadership rooted in practical governance, saying:
“In just one year, His Excellency has shown that leadership is about action and impact. From education to healthcare, infrastructure to security, the results of this administration speak loudly.”

She reaffirmed the commitment of the Office of the Special Adviser on SDGs to continue supporting the state government’s drive for inclusive, sustainable development that uplifts every community.

“Congratulations once again to His Excellency and his Deputy for their steadfast leadership and dedication to the people of Edo State. Under your watch, hope has been restored, progress is visible, and a new Edo has risen.”
