A yet-to-be-identified man was captured in a viral video, jumping into the lagoon on Saturday evening at Idumota bridge in Lagos island.

It was gathered that before the man jumped into the river, in one of the videos, he quickly explained to onlookers in Yoruba language, that he decided to give up on his life because he was frustrated after being accused of stealing money he cannot afford to pay back.

He explained that he was framed up by some people, that he stole a huge sum of money which he did not. He was given an ultimatum of 24 hours to refund the money, else he would be punished.

He continued to say that he did not steal the money, besides feeding for him is a hassle, where will he get that kind of huge sum to pay them within 24 hours?

The aged man further added that he was tired of life, so he needs to end it all. Onlookers who tried to convince him not to jump as there is still hope, got shocked when he pulled out from the hands of those holding him and jumped into the water.

Although a rescue team were seen trying to go rescue him, it was however not clear if they got to him early enough.
