The Governorship candidate made the promise weekend while briefing newsmen on his campaign trips across the 18 LGAs of the state at Enerst Etim Press centre in Calabar.

He said he is not doing it only for the journalists but for the entire state. “I would do that and I will give you people a brand new Bus. I am different. You will be happy to have me as your Governor in Cross River State.

He used the opportunity to dismiss rumours making round that the PDP governorship Candidate narrowly escapes thugs in Akpabuyo LGA, when he went there for campaign.

Onor, further explained that, he is a proud Ejagham man who come from Etung and Akamkpa LGAs by blood. “My mother is from Akamkpa and my father is from Nsofang in Etung LGAs. And so there’s no back-to-south as it concerns me.

Going back to the memory lane Sen Onor, said they were the young men who came from the North and supported Mr Donald Duke in the south to become the governor of the state in 1999. “And so I don’t believe in ethnicity. I believe in merit.”

A professor of History specializing on the history of Cross River region of Nigeria with emphasizes on Ejagham people, he reiterated that all ethnics group deserve a place in the state.

The PDP Governorship hopeful distanced himself from categories of politicians who make promises. According to him “I don’t belong to that category of politicians who make promises. I have told you people that in three months as Governor I will change this place.”

Concerning the people building houses on the water board’s land, Onor said, he will subject everything into interrogation. Adding that the advice he is given will enable him to see all those things.

Responding, the chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Cross River State Chapter, Nigeria South south region, Mr Nsa Gill, solicited goodwills and commended the Governorship candidate for always responding their invitation.

Gill intimated the Governorship candidate that the NUJ will like to work with him, calling on the senator to carry journalists along.
