The Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai on Friday revealed that one of his fellow governors was given N500m in new Naira notes by a bank amid cries of the scarcity of the new notes among Nigerians.
Truth Live News gathered that El-Rufai made the revelation during an exclusive interview with BBC.
He disputed the 10-day extension of deadline by Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and insisted that it is not enough.
His words: “Yesterday, I was told that one of our governors got N500m in new notes from the bank. It was the bank that gave him.
“What of the average man on the street selling tomatoes and trying to survive? That is why I have said that the 10-day extension is not enough. We want months of extension.
“There is nowhere in the world that currency exchange doesn’t happen but they don’t give limited time such as this one for currency swap and definitely not close to elections.”
