2023: NSCDC, NIS Mobilize 1400 For Election In Edo

The Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have deployed over 1400 officers for the conduct of the election in Edo Edo state.

The security agencies disclosed this to True Live News in Benin yesterday during a meeting between the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) on election duty for Zone 5, headquarters, Ede Ayuba and heads of security agencies in Edo state.

Speaking during the event, NSCDC Deputy Commandant in the state, Mr Emmanuel Ojile, said the corps had deployed 1100 men and officers for the Saturday election.

According to him, the officers had undergone intensive training in the last two months and would compliment the police in making the exercise a smooth one.

On his party, NIS, Deputy Comptroller, Patrick Oyedoh said the state command has deployed 350 officers to the field to complement the police towards achieving a successful elections.

He explained that the service has put the necessary measures in place to that would ensure that non-Nigerian from participating in the election.

He said with the existing synergy between the police and other security agents in the state, he is optimistic that the elections would be successful.

Also speaking, the Public Relations Officer, Benin Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crime (EFCC),William Oseghale, said the commission is fully prepared to ward off financial inducement during the polls.
