Rivers Gov. Meets With Workers, Orders Investigation Into Money Spent On Water Supply

The governor of Rivers state Sir Siminalayi Fubara has said that the previous government had spent much money on water supply in the Rivers state Secretariat complex but there was no justification of the funds expended.

Governor Fubara, who made this known when he visited the complex on Thursday in Port Harcourt, ordered for investigation into how the funds were utilized.

He said his administration is poised to give attention to the welfare of Civil Servants in the state.

Accompanied by the Head of Rivers State Civil Service, Dr George Nweke and Permanent Secretaries in the state Fubara, said the visit was to make on-the-spot assessment of the state of the facilities at the Secretariat.

While addressing the workers, the governor said the major challenges facing the workers in the Secretariat were lack of functional utilities such as supply of water and security.

Fubara warned the Civil Servants that his administration will not tolerate indolence and nonchalant attitudes hence, the need for them to show commitment and dedication to their duties.

In his inaugural meeting with the Head of Service and Permanent Secretaries at the Executive Council Chambers of Government House, Port Harcourt, he said the Civil Service will be reorganized for greater efficiency.

Information made available by the governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Media Boniface Onyedi, said the Head of Service, Dr George Nweke intimated the governor on how to improve the civil service.

Truth Live News gathered that the workers commended the governor for his charge, assuring him of their commitment to Strengthening the state workforce through the effective mobilisation of workers.
