Police Arrest Man For Hypnotizing, Duping His Victim Of N5m In Edo

Edo State Police Command has arrested one Ayodele Tosin for allegedly obtaining “money under false pretense and trial by ordeal”.

The suspect, Tosin was said to have allegedly hypnotized his victim identified as Odemwingie Innocent and obtained from him; the sum N5,159,000.

The State Police Commissioner, Mohammed Dankwara disclosed this while parading the suspect alongside suspcted cultists, rapist and murderer in Benin City, the State capital.

Dankwara said Tosin’s arrest followed a complaint by the victim, adding that the suspect received “the cash at different times through bank account number with name: Adesola Oluwadamilola Idowu”.

The CP stated that further investigation led to the recovery of fake denomination of foreign currencies, and Charms suspcted to have been used for hypnotizing and manipulating the victim.

He said the suspect had made statement and confessed to the crime.

The suspect in an interview with journalists said he acted on the instructions of an accomplice whom he claimed to be at large.

In a related development, the CP said one Fashola Oba Ade Prince, 52, is also in custody for reportedly hypnotizing a 20-year-old Enofe Vera Aisosa with a “religious book” at her shop on New Lagos Road, Benin City.

The complainant, a female, was said to have lost her senses after reading the book- a development that allegedly enabled the suspect to take the victim to his House.

According to the CP, “at the House, the suspect reportedly “placed human images on her (victim) fore head and then laid on her.

“Shortly, she regained her senses, pushed the suspect away from her body and ran away with the images. Immediately, the Police operatives arrested the suspect,” he stated.
