In the ongoing Presidential election petition tribunal, the Court has delivered a verdict in support of the valid nomination and candidature of Shettima and Tinubu, citing specific sections of the Nigerian Constitution. The Court has ruled as follows:

The Court emphasized that the qualifications of a candidate can only be contested under the provisions of Section 131 and 137 of the Constitution.

Furthermore, the Court clarified that Tinubu and Shettima cannot be disqualified based on the grounds of double/multiple nomination or sponsorship, as such issues do not violate the Constitution.

In response to Peter Obi’s attempt to use Section 142(1) of the Constitution as a basis, the Court rejected this argument, stating that it will not be upheld.

Additionally, the Court highlighted that matters concerning double/multiple nominations should have been addressed in the Federal High Court, indicating that it falls outside the jurisdiction of the Presidential election petition tribunal.

Ultimately, the Court concluded that the application lacked merit and struck it out for being incompetent.
