A much-changed Arsenal drew 1-1 against PSV Eindhoven thanks to a goal by Eddie Nketiah, his first in the UEFA Champions League.

Against the flow of play, Nketiah’s well-taken goal gave Arsenal a halftime lead. He fired it into the bottom corner after Reiss Nelson found him at the top of the box.

Five minutes after the restart, Yorbe Vertessen’s looping goal off the post gave PSV an equalizer and completed a well-executed counterattack. It was Vertessen’s first goal in the competition, just like it was for Nketiah before him.

In a match that both teams had a fair chance to win, PSV and Arsenal each struck the post twice, and the Gunners also had a goal disallowed for offside.

In the seventh minute of stoppage time, Leandro Trossard gave Arsenal the lead, but he missed the target after deceiving his defender with a cunning move.

With Arsenal guaranteed the top spot in Group B and PSV certain to finish second, the outcome held no significance. Both sides avoided receiving any cards, but Mohamed Elneny’s apparent hamstring problem caused him to leave the field, which worries Arsenal.
