The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency in the state over escalating violence and unrest.
This call comes after some reinstated Local Government chairmen and councillors attempted to resume office, leading to resistance and clashes that resulted in at least two deaths.
Senator Ajibola Basiru, National Secretary of the APC, suggested that the Federal Government declare a state of emergency, stating that the situation has deteriorated to the point where innocent people are being attacked by “uncontrollable PDP thugs.”
However, the Osun State government, led by Governor Ademola Adeleke, has vehemently rejected the APC’s call for a state of emergency.
Commissioner for Information Kolapo Alimi accused the APC of deliberately causing mayhem to achieve their demand.
Alimi also announced plans to publish the names of party members who have been killed in the violence.
Truth Live News can confirm that the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has deployed additional tactical squads to the state to restore law and order.
The police have equally condemned the violence and vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice.
