Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah achieved an unwanted record following his side’s 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United in the FA Cup final on Sunday.

Salah, despite his impressive form this season, with 32 goals and 22 assists in all competitions, was unable to make an impact in the match.

According to Opta, it was the first time in Salah’s Liverpool career that he neither attempted a shot nor created a chance when playing the entire 90 minutes of a match.

Salah had just 23 touches of the ball and failed to register any real threat against Newcastle goalkeeper Nick Pope.

Newcastle’s victory was sealed with goals from Dan Burn and Alexander Isak, while Federico Chiesa scored a consolation goal for Liverpool in injury time.

The defeat made it a setback for Liverpool, but they will now focus on winning the Premier League title, where they hold a 12-point lead over second-placed Arsenal.
