CAN Protests Over Insecurity, Killings In Jos

PLATEAU, JOS – The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Jos chapter, has led a protest march over the spate of killings and kidnappings in the state.

The demonstration was spare headed by Christian leaders, including the Plateau chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Polycarp Lubo.

The march began at the Fwavwei Junction community road and ended in a gridlock that left many commuters stranded.

According to reports, the protesters carried placards with the following inscriptions: ‘That they do not die in vain’, ‘We walk for peace’, Stop the killings’, ‘Stop the bloodshed’, ‘Every life matters’, and ‘Let Plateau live’.

The development comes in the wake of incessant attacks in Plateau State, where more than 100 people were murdered in Bokkos and Bassa LGAs in the last two weeks.

Addressing Journalists on the crisis, the chairman of the Plateau CAN faction, Yakubu Pam, said that it was time for stakeholders, including traditional rulers, religious leaders, security operatives, and community-based organisations, to unite against the cycle of violence that has characterized the state for decades now.
