The management of Auchi Polytechnic, Edo State, says it has expelled over 58 students who were allegedly involved in cult related activities in the institution.

Rector of the institution, Dr. Salisu Shehu Umar, revealed this to Journalists in the state.

He said the numerical figures spanned from 2022 till date.

Dr. Umar said such measure has enabled the authorities to cut down drastically the cult related activities in the polytechnic.

According to him “When I assumed office as Rector, I called the students to renounce membership of secret cults so that they could be forgiven.

“I told them that whoever that is caught would face the consequences, hence lots of them renounced their membership of cult groups.

“The staff of the institution including myself and management staff swore an affidavit of not belonging to a cult group.

“This can be attested to if you check the numbers of students expelled between 2022 till date.

“So far, we have expelled over 58 students with cult related issues between 2022 till date and we are still doing it and not relenting.

“Cultism is a problem, especially in this part of the country and no one can claim ignorance of the menace,” Dr. Umar said.
