The Congress for Progressives Change (CPC) bloc from Kebbi State has announced its support for Governor Nasir Idris’ re-election bid for a second term in 2027, dumping former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami.
Led by Alhaji Musa Abubakar Dan Malakin Kabi, the CPC bloc made the declaration during a meeting with key APC stakeholders in Birnin Kebbi, citing their long-standing membership in the APC since its formation in 2013.
The bloc’s decision to dissolve into the APC stems from their refusal to be swayed into joining the Social Democratic Party due to personal interests, veiled in reference to Malami’s rumoured political moves.
CPC leaders expressed disappointment over Malami’s alleged abandonment after supporting his rise to power under the Buhari administration, with Dan Malakin lamenting that Malami only enriched himself and his family.
Governor Idris welcomed the CPC bloc, assuring them of full inclusion in his administration and prioritizing infrastructure, education, agriculture, and other critical sectors.
