Atiku Abubakar, former Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate, has met with Rauf Aregbesola, ex-governor of Osun State and former close ally of President Bola Tinubu.
“Breakfast time at the residence of the former Governor of Osun State, Engr Rauf Aregbesola,” Atiku wrote in a post accompanying a video of the meeting on his X page.
Aregbesola’s relationship with President Tinubu deteriorated during the lead-up to the 2023 presidential election.
Atiku is currently leading efforts to form an opposition coalition aimed at removing Tinubu from power in 2027.
Recalled that the former Vice President recently met with Peter Obi, former Labour Party presidential candidate, and Nasir El-Rufai, ex-Kaduna State governor.
“Serious issues were discussed,” El-Rufai confirmed, adding that the coalition plans to retire Tinubu to Lagos in 2027.
