Tinubu, in a statement posted Thursday via his X (formerly Twitter) handle, cited Gates’ “decades-long commitment to improving lives” through health, education, digital innovation, and agriculture.

He noted Gates’ influence in eradication, health systems strengthening, and youth development on the continent.

“We had meaningful conversations on deepening collaboration in innovation and human capital,” Tinubu added.

He emphasized Nigeria’s openness to global partnerships, saying real progress begins with “investing in people.”

The honour reflects Gates’ long-term work through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in Nigeria’s healthcare and development sectors.
