ABUJA, NIGERIA – Senate President Godswill Obot Akpabio, has praised his wife, Ekaette Unoma Akpabio, for her humanitarian work as she marks her birthday.
In a statement personally signed, Akpabio described her as “God-fearing” and “impactful,” noting her devotion to women, children, and the vulnerable.
“She changed frowns to smiles,” he said, recalling her tenure as First Lady of Akwa Ibom State from 2007 to 2015.

He credited her Family Life Enhancement Initiative (FLEI) with touching “thousands of lives” through healthcare, housing, and empowerment programmes.
Even after office, “she has not relented,” Akpabio noted, referencing her continued outreach to widows and the poor.
“My family is blessed to have her,” he wrote. “She embodies humility and service.”
Akpabio conveyed birthday wishes on behalf of his family and constituents of Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District.
He prayed for her long life and reaffirmed his love, writing, “Be assured of my love forever.”
The message was contained in a public goodwill note signed by the Senate President on his social media handle.
