Russian President Vladimir Putin has pledged his country’s support to Iran following recent airstrikes on Iranian territory carried out by the United States and Israel.

Speaking during a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Abba Araghchi in Moscow on Monday, Putin condemned the strikes as “absolutely unprovoked aggression against Iran”, affirming that Russia stands with the Iranian people.

“We have had long, good and reliable relations with Iran. From our side, we will undertake efforts to support the Iranian people,” Putin stated.

However, he did not provide specifics on the nature of the support.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov later clarified that the form of assistance would depend on Iran’s expressed needs.

Russia and Iran have significantly strengthened their ties in recent years, particularly in military cooperation.

Putin also held separate talks with Iraq Prime Minister Mohammed al-Sudan to discuss the broader Middle East crisis.
