Dr Nonye Soludo, wife of the Anambra State Governor, has called on residents to actively participate in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise ahead of the state’s governorship election scheduled for November 8.

In a statement released on Wednesday in Awka, Mrs Soludo described the voter registration process as a critical opportunity for citizens to secure their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and ensure their voices are heard in the upcoming election. She emphasized that the CVR is not just a civic duty, but a vital step toward influencing leadership and governance in the state.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) began the CVR on July 8, and the exercise is expected to continue daily excluding Mondays until July 17, running from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Mrs Soludo encouraged all eligible voters, including those who have relocated, misplaced their PVCs, or are registering for the first time, to seize the opportunity and complete their registration before the deadline. She warned that failing to participate could mean losing the right to vote in what she described as a crucial election for Anambra’s future.

She noted that possessing a PVC is the only legitimate way citizens can express their political will, urging residents not to wait until it is too late.

“Do not let this opportunity pass you by. If you are currently staying in Anambra and fall within the voting age, ensure you are not left behind. This is your right and your responsibility,” she said.

Mrs Soludo’s appeal comes as part of broader efforts to increase voter awareness and participation ahead of the November polls.
