CALABAR, CROSS RIVER – Governor Bassey Edet Otu of Cross River State has approved the appointment of new media aides to strengthen his administration’s public communication and digital engagement strategies.
The announcement was made through the Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Linus Obogo, who signed the official statement released in Calabar.
Among the appointees are Emmanuel Inam, Special Assistant on Content Creation; Bassey Ita Etim, Special Assistant on X Management; and James Eku, Special Assistant on X.
Others include Joseph Okache, who will handle Social Media Advocacy; Awade Friday, appointed Senior Special Assistant on New Media Advocacy; and Modlin Philomena Odu, who will focus on Media Research and TikTok.

Beatrice Akpala was named Special Adviser on Content Development and Archival, while Abiola Imani will serve as Special Assistant on Media (Technical). Saviour Etim Asuquo is to oversee Audio-Visual Generation.
Also appointed are Ntor Mercy Irom and Bassey Ansa Etim as Special Assistants on Content Development and Content Editing respectively, both for Electronic Media. Margaret Godwin John will serve as Personal Assistant on Media Documentation.
Obogo, in the release, conveyed the governor’s congratulations to the appointees, urging them to demonstrate “renewed passion, creativity, and a high sense of responsibility” in service to the people of the state.
“All appointments take immediate effect,” the statement confirmed, reflecting the urgency of enhancing communication around government programs and public perception.
While the appointments are commendable and align with modern communication demands, stakeholders have respectfully urged Governor Otu to replicate such focused reforms in the state’s transport sector.
A civil society group in Calabar noted that “the transport system remains a critical challenge,” and called on the governor to give the same urgency to roads, urban transport and commuter safety.
Governor Otu, known for his inclusive leadership style, is expected to balance innovation in digital governance with infrastructure reforms to meet public expectations across all sectors.
