President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Katsina State to personally receive the remains of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who recently passed away in London. His arrival marks a significant moment in the ongoing arrangements for the state funeral scheduled to take place in Daura, the hometown of the late Nigerian leader.
At the Umaru Musa Yar’adua International Airport, President Tinubu was received by Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, alongside top government officials and political leaders.
In attendance to welcome the President were the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, and the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
Also present were several state governors, including AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara, Mai Mala Buni of Yobe, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe, Umar Namadi of Jigawa, Nasir Idris of Kebbi, Dauda Lawal of Zamfara, Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, Dapo Abiodun of Ogun, Monday Okpebholo of Edo, Hope Uzodimma of Imo, and Bassey Edet Otu of Cross River.
From the host state, the Deputy Governor of Katsina, Faruk Lawal Jobe; Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Nasir Yahaya Daura; and Presidential Aide, Alhaji Ibrahim Kabir Masari, were also part of the welcoming delegation.
Preparations are now in full gear to give former President Muhammadu Buhari a befitting and dignified farewell in Daura, as Nigeria mourns the passing of one of its most influential leaders.
