The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a man identified as Amos Daniel, who allegedly murdered a woman believed to be his girlfriend at a hotel in the Ayobo area of Lagos.
The incident occurred on Thursday, July 18, 2025, and sparked panic among guests and staff at the hotel after a disturbing noise was heard from one of the rooms.
Daniel had checked into the hotel at around 5PM alongside two other male companions, and a female guest joined them shortly after.
By approximately 10PM, unusual sounds were heard from their room, prompting hotel staff and other lodgers to investigate.
“I had been in the hotel since Wednesday.
“That evening, I heard a strange noise from the next room,” one of the guests, Adio, recounted.
When no one responded to the knock, the door was opened with a spare key, and a woman was found lying motionless in a pool of blood.
The hotel staff and guests searched for the suspects, and while two had already fled, Daniel was found hiding within the hotel premises.
“He was caught trying to flee through the gate,” a hotel worker said.
Daniel allegedly confessed during the scuffle that he and his accomplices had lured the woman to the hotel with the intent of killing her for ritual purposes.
The police spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident and said the hotel manager reported the crime to the Ayobo Police Station on Friday.
The victim’s remains have been deposited at the Yaba General Hospital mortuary for autopsy.
Several items were recovered from the suspect’s possession, including a dagger, a UTC axe, a cutlass, and multiple jack knives.
