Joseph Aloba, father of late Nigerian singer Mohbad, has accused Naira Marley, the former Marlian Music boss, of bullying his son.
This contradicts Marley’s recent claims that he had no involvement in Mohbad’s struggles.
Recalling his personal encounters, Aloba stated that he once visited Marley to resolve some issues his son had raised, but what he witnessed convinced him that Mohbad had endured mistreatment.
“When we went to see him to apologise, he wasn’t even speaking respectfully.
“People think I went there to collect money, but life is much more than just what I want to eat,” Aloba said.
According to Aloba, one of Marley’s associates confided in him, alleging that Marley physically assaulted Mohbad. “I went to see Naira Marley over some of the things Mohbad had said, and that was all.
“But later, a lot of other things happened that I personally witnessed.
“There were about three other people present at the time; two of them are still alive today.
“They were people working with Naira Marley, even though they were younger and still under him.
“One of them once came to me to report that Naira Marley was beating Mohbad,” Aloba recounted.
Aloba also addressed allegations that Mohbad carried out financial transactions using unfamiliar accounts.
He confirmed that Marley had raised concerns about Mohbad receiving funds through an account not registered in his name.
“Naira Marley complained that he (Mohbad) was collecting money with an account that was not his, and that he had to force him to use his personal account.
“I also noticed Mohbad once sent me money from a strange account.
“I warned him that anything he wanted to give me should come from his own account,” Aloba explained.
