Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan

The office of Senator representing the good people of Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has been officially unsealed on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, by Alabi Adedeji, Deputy Director of the Sergeant-at-Arms at the National Assembly.

The office, located in the Senate wing, had been sealed since March 6, 2025, following her six-month suspension by the Senate over alleged breaches of protocol during a February session.

The development, confirmed by National Assembly sources, marks a significant step toward the senator’s potential return to legislative duties ahead of the Senate’s rescheduled plenary on October 7, 2025.

While no official statement from Senate leadership detailed the reason for the move, insiders suggest it follows recent discussions to resolve the contentious suspension.

The senator’s office closure had drawn criticism as an overreach, with public support rallying around her during the ordeal.

As the October plenary approaches, attention now turns to whether Akpoti-Uduaghan will face additional requirements to resume her role or if this signals a full restoration of her legislative rights.
