CROSS RIVER, CALABAR – The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed a press release allegedly issued by its National Publicity Secretary announcing the dissolution of the State Working Committee in Cross River State.
In a letter dated October 1, 2025, and addressed to the State Chairman, the PDP National Secretary, Senator Samuel N. Anyanwu, clarified that no such decision was reached by the National Working Committee (NWC).
“For purposes of clarity, that press release should be discountenanced, because there was no formal sitting of the National Working Committee in which such decision was taken,” the letter read.
Anyanwu stressed that the National Publicity Secretary lacked the authority to implement or pronounce NWC decisions. He described the announcement as “null and void and of no effect,” affirming that the Cross River State Working Committee remained undissolved.
According to him, the duties of the Publicity Secretary are limited to information dissemination, not policy execution or enforcement. “It is not in the official position and duties of the National Publicity Secretary to take actions relating to the implementation of the decisions of the National Working Committee of our great Party,” he noted.

By situational ethics, the clarification seeks to prevent misinformation and uphold institutional integrity within the party. Anyanwu’s intervention underscores the principle that decisions affecting state structures must follow due process.
He urged the state leadership to continue its functions in line with the PDP Constitution (2017 as amended). “Please consider this letter as the rightful authority for you to continue in your duties,” he directed.
The development highlights the party’s attempt to avoid confusion among its members and preserve order while reinforcing constitutional guidelines on leadership roles.
