Unknown gunmen stormed Nindama village in Kokona Local Government Area, Nasarawa leaving eight residents dead at around 3:30 a.m. on Friday, October 10.

According to Zagazola Makama, at least eight fatalities, including men, women, and children caught in the chaos when gun men stormed the village firing sporadic gunshots.

“Two other persons sustained critical injuries and are currently receiving treatment, while six others are still missing,” the sources revealed.

At about 3:30 p.m., a joint task force comprising the army, police, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) descended on the bloodied scene, accompanied by Kokona LGA Executive Chairman, Hon. Agbawu M. Agbawu.

The grim procession oversaw the evacuation of the victims’ bodies to a local mortuary.

Preliminary probes point to a festering land dispute as the likely spark, sources indicated, revealing how ancient grievances continue to fuel Nigeria’s cycle of rural carnage. “Efforts are ongoing to locate the missing persons and apprehend the attackers,” one insider noted, as security operatives combed the terrain for clues.

The security operatives have urged residents provide any scrap of information to aid the hunt for justice.
