Galatasaray striker, Victor Osimhen made history with stunning hat-trick leading his team to a 3-0 victory over Ajax in the UEFA Champions League.
The Nigerian international scored all three goals, including two penalties, to seal Galatasaray’s emphatic win at the Johan Cruyff Arena.
Osimhen opened the scoring in the 59th minute with a powerful header from Leroy Sané’s cross.
Osimhen’s hat-trick marks a historic moment for Galatasaray, as he became the first player in the club’s history to score two goals in consecutive Champions League matches.
Osimhen now has six goals in the Champions League after scoring against Bodo/Glimt (2) and Liverpool (1), respectively, in recent weeks.
However, according to Opta, Osimhen became the first player in Galatasaray’s history to score two goals in two consecutive Champions League matches.
His hat-trick against Ajax marks the first time a Galatasaray player has achieved the feat in European tournaments since Burak Yılmaz did so in 2012 against Cluj.
Also, Osimhen’s hat-trick makes him the first Nigerian player to score three goals in the Champions League since Yakubu Ayegbeni achieved the feat for Maccabi Haifa in a 3-0 win over Olympiacos in 2002.
