Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has refuted the allegations by the All Progressives Congress (APC) that his administration has squandered N1 trillion in state allocations since 2022.
A statement by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, said that Adeleke labeled the claims as “fake and fabricated,” stating that they were part of a “devilish fabrication” aimed at undermining his administration’s successes.
Recall that the APC state chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, had accused Adeleke of squandering various allocations received from November 2022 to September 2025, urging the governor to justify his spending.
Lawal alleged that the Adeleke government received N25 billion from November to December 2022, N182 billion in 2023, N333 billion in 2024, and N310 billion from January to September 2025, while citizens faced economic hardships.
In his response, Adeleke maintained that the APC has “run out of ideas” and criticized their claims, insisting that the state has not received close to one trillion naira.
He emphasized that resources have been judiciously managed to address vital needs in health, infrastructure, education, and other sectors.
Adeleke reeled out several developmental achievements, including the construction of 322 kilometers of roads, renovations of 200 health centers, and the rehabilitation of over 100 schools.
He also highlighted ongoing projects such as dualization efforts; water works upgrades, and the modernization of the Osogbo stadium.
Adeleke maintained that his administration has successfully reduced the state debt by 40 percent ,without taking new loans since he took office in 2022, adding that he also refrained from collecting security votes, opting to process security expenditures through approved channels.
Adeleke said he had addressed the financial challenges due to the APC’s seizure of local government funds, stating that his administration has been managing these financial burdens to support local government workers.
He stressed that the positive impact of his administration’s expenditures, particularly in education, where Osun’s performance in national examinations has significantly improved, rising from 33rd to 7th in the NECO rankings under his leadership.
He said the Nigerian Union of Teachers has also praised his government for his commitment to teachers’ welfare.
