NIGERIA, SOUTH-SOUTH – Residents of Akwa Ibom and Cross River States will face restrictions on movement as both state governments conduct their monthly environmental sanitation exercises on Saturday, March 29, 2025, from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM.
The governments have ordered a halt to human and vehicular movement during the exercise to ensure full participation. Officials warn that defaulters will face prosecution.
In Akwa Ibom, Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Security agencies will be involved to enforce compliance.

Similarly, Hon. Moses Osogi, Cross River State Commissioner for Environment, stressed that business owners and residents must clean their surroundings.
“No one should ignore this directive,” Osogi warned.He confirmed that only essential workers would be allowed to move during the restricted hours.
Both state governments have urged community leaders to mobilize their members for maximum participation.
