NIGERIA, UYO – Akwa Ibom State has refurbished an abandoned 30-seater Toyota Coaster bus to promote tourism and investment, according to the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Anieti Udofia.

Udofia, speaking in Uyo on Thursday, said the bus, branded “Discover Akwa Ibom, Come, Live, Work & Invest,” had been left unused for years before the ministry identified it as a priority project.

“There is no tourism without movements,” Udofia declared, stressing that reliable transportation remains central to the state’s tourism growth and ethical duty to serve visitors effectively.

He credited Governor Umo Eno for approving the refurbishment and trusting the ministry “with the mandate to navigate the ministry’s affairs to greater heights,” reflecting what Udofia described as responsible stewardship of public assets.

According to the commissioner, the bus revival symbolizes the government’s commitment to sustainable tourism and responsible management of resources. He noted that Akwa Ibom is “deliberate in its tourism development drive,” seeking public support to achieve greater milestones.

Udofia maintained that refurbishing the vehicle demonstrates situational ethics by turning a neglected state property into an economic asset for cultural promotion and visitor convenience.

The commissioner urged residents and investors to leverage the state’s tourism potential, saying the revitalized bus represents only the beginning of “more wins” in Akwa Ibom’s cultural and tourism sector.
