Abdulrahman Bello, the alleged killer of Yetunde Lawal, a female final-year student at the College of Education in Ilorin, has appeared in court alongside four accomplices.
Truth Love News reports that the suspects were brought to the Chief Magistrate Court in Ilorin by heavily armed operatives from the Department of Security Service (DSS) for a further hearing.
Prosecution Counsel Issa Zakari informed the court that the investigation at the DSS office is nearly complete and requested that the matter be transferred to the High Court in Ilorin.
The case has been adjourned to April 22, 2025, for further mention, with Zakari seeking another date after April 15, 2025, to terminate the case before the magistrate court.
Bello’s co-defendants include Ahmed Abdulwasiu, 41, Suleiman Muyideen, 28, Jamiu Uthman, 29, and Abdulrahmon Jamiu, 31, all of whom were granted an order to be returned to DSS custody for further investigation.
This case highlights concerns about safety and security in Nigeria, where ritual killings and murder cases have been on the rise, often linked to superstition and human rights violations.
