Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Jibrin Okutepa, has praised President Bola Tinubu’s appointment of Professor Joash Amupitan as Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), describing it as the President’s best decision.

Okutepa made this statement while responding to questions in an interview on ‘Sunday Politics’, a programme on Channels Television.

According to him, Prof Amupitan possesses considerable credibility and integrity to lead the electoral body following the completion of Professor Mahmood Yakubu’s tenure.

He advised the new INEC chair not to allow himself to be corrupted, urging him to restore Nigerians’ trust in the country’s electoral body.

The senior lawyer also cleared the air that Prof Amupitan was not in the legal team of president Tinubu in the 2033 election petition tribunal.

“Professor Amupitan’s nomination as INEC Chair is a fantastic decision, given the accumulative knowledge of him in evidence, electoral jurisprudence and administrative capacities.

“In fact, I can say that it’s the best appointment President Tinubu has ever made,” Okutepa said.
