The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the deadline for the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in Anambra State ahead of the upcoming governorship election.

In a statement issued on Monday in Awka, Victoria Eta-Messi, INEC’s Director of Voter Education and Publicity in the state, said the exercise earlier scheduled to end on 29 October will now continue until 2 November.

Eta-Messi explained that the decision followed a meeting of the commission on 27 October after receiving numerous appeals from citizens and stakeholders requesting additional time for collection.

“The INEC has approved the extension of the ongoing collection of PVCs in Anambra from October 29 to November 2,” she said.

The commission urged registered voters who are yet to collect their cards to take advantage of the extended period to do so, as the PVCs remain essential for participation in the forthcoming election.
