The Kano State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has refuted claims that its National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, is looking to grab Vice President Kashim Shettima’s seat.
The party’s Publicity Secretary, Ahmed S. Aruwa, said Ganduje has never spoken about wanting Shettima’s seat and does not harbor such an intention.
Aruwa attributed the controversy to supporters of Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, who he alleged are trying to cause chaos in the APC.
Truth Live News recalls that the issue arose after a heated disagreement between Ganduje and Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, at the APC’s North-East zonal meeting.
Zulum was visibly unhappy with how the gathering went, and videos showed him almost shouting at Ganduje.
Shettima’s supporters, including Engr. Bashir Buba Muhammad, accused Ganduje of deliberately shunning the Vice President while endorsing President Bola Tinubu’s second term in office.
Muhammad also quoted Zulum as saying, “No Kashim, no APC in the North.”
Political analyst Professor Kamilu Sani Fagge of Bayero University, Kano, confessed that the incident signifies a deeper problem within the APC, which could lead to major challenges ahead of the 2027 polls.
While the APC is yet to comment further on the matter, exerts have warned that the situation could have far-reaching implications for the party’s future.
