BAKASSI, CROSS RIVER – The Executive Chairman of Bakassi Local Government, Hon. Effiong Etim Okon, has suspended his Special Assistant on New Media.
Mr. Nsa Ekeng was suspended indefinitely for allegedly failing to meet official responsibilities, according to a letter dated June 2, 2025.
“This decision was taken due to his failure to live up to his official responsibilities,” the letter signed by the Secretary read.

Ekeng was barred from posting or commenting on Bakassi LGA activities via any social media platforms pending further notice.
The letter further directed him to return all Council documents to the Secretary’s office without delay.
A council staff who requested anonymity said the action aims to protect the integrity of the administration.
Efforts to reach Mr. Ekeng for comments were unsuccessful as his phone line was switched off at press time.
