At least four Community Watch Corps (CWC) operatives and several farmers have been killed in a fresh bandit attack on the outskirts of Marmara community in Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The attack occurred on Monday evening while farmers were working on their farmlands under the protection of the CWC operatives.
According to security analyst Bakatsine, “Bandits attacked Marmara village, Malumfashi LGA, Katsina State yesterday evening. Four CWC personnel were killed while protecting farmers. Several farmers also lost their lives. Many others sustained injuries.”
Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
This recent attack has sparked concerns about security in the region, following similar incidents in the past.
In May, bandits killed four CWC members and set their commander ablaze in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Another attack in June last year resulted in the deaths of four police officers and 28 farmers in Kankara Local Government Area.
