Police command in Bayelsa, South South of Nigeria, say that it is trying to determine the criminal status of one Kaizer Freeman, paraded as an armed robbery suspect but may graduate into something more exotic like kidnapping considering the instrument of his trade found in his possession, Truth Live News has learnt.
Public Relations Officer, Asinim Butswat, of the police said on Thursday, that the suspect was apprehended by a crack team of anti-kidnapping operatives.
Butswat said the suspect was nabbed following a complaint by a female victim he had robbed.
He said that Freeman robbed her of her mobile phone at gunpoint at Agudama, Yenagoa.
Upon searching the suspect, the operation yielded troves of his tools of trade including according to the police, “one dummy pistol, a pistol holster, a handcuff, and Navy, Army, and Air Force face caps.”
“Operatives of the Anti-kidnapping unit of Bayelsa State Police Command have arrested a notorious armed robbery suspect.
“The suspect Kaizer Freeman was arrested following a complaint by a victim who was robbed of her mobile phone on gunpoint at Agudama, Yenagoa, on 17 January 2023 at about 1745 hours.
“Upon a search of the suspect house, the Police recover one dummy pistol, a pistol holster, a handcuff, and Navy, Army, and Air Force face caps.
“The suspect has admitted to the crime and investigation is ongoing to recover the phone, the suspect will be charged in court after the investigation.”
