Benue Governor, Hyacinth Alia has revealed the mystery behind why the military have not been able to defeat terrorists and bandits in the country, saying that, they operate in a guerrilla format.
Truth Live News media disclosed that he made the assertion when he featured in Focus Nigeria, a programme on African Independent Television (AIT).
Alia described the situation in Benue as becoming more challenging.
The governor said that the insurgents now hit their targets and retreat afterwards.
“We’re talking about the bandits and the terrorists who have come to a very mystifying frame of guerrilla warfare. They come, hit, and go back. So we cannot identify them,” Alia said.
He maintained that more work to thwart the terrorists would be done with the support of the federal government.
“With the federal government’s continued support now through intelligence finding and searching, I think, we are going to do even some more.
“We will identify those people, apprehend them, and create a new narrative for our three local governments and, in fact, the state”, Alia boasted.
