The Governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum, has announced a N40 million relief package for the families of eight Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) members who were killed in a roadside bomb attack along the Dikwa-Marte Road.
Each bereaved family will receive N5 million in immediate financial support, the governor said during a recent condolence visit to the Fezzan area of Maiduguri.
Governor Zulum also promised full government-funded scholarships for the children of the deceased, adding that support would be extended to other relatives in cases where the fallen had no children.
“These brave men are martyrs who gave their lives to protect their communities,” he said. “Their sacrifice will never be forgotten.”
The victims were part of the local security force assisting in counter-insurgency operations in the state. They lost their lives after their vehicle struck an improvised explosive device (IED).
The governor, accompanied by top officials including Deputy Speaker Abdullahi Askira and APC state chairman Bello Ayuba, offered prayers for the souls of the deceased and urged their families to remain strong.
Zulum reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the families of those who die in service, describing their work as vital to restoring peace in Borno State.
