In what is becoming a recurring trend in recent weeks, Prince Ralph Odua, a prominent member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the diaspora and a key figure in the Asue Ighodalo 2024 governorship campaign, has officially resigned from the party.

Odua, who resides in New York, United States, made his resignation known in a letter dated August 4, 2025, addressed to the Edo Central Senatorial Chairman of the PDP, Archbishop Anthony Okosun. The letter, also made available to Truth Live News, cited deep frustrations with the internal crises plaguing the party since 2022 at both the state and national levels.

He wrote:

“I have been a loyal member of the party since the days of Chief Tony Anenih, who was one of the reasons people like us joined politics and the party. But recent developments in the party showed that all the democratic elements and actions the party was known for since we joined in 1998 have all gone into the winds. The party is now being run by one tiny clique of cabal working for the interests of the ruling party.”
Odua, a founding member of the PDP, emphasised his sacrifices and commitment over the years:

“We gave our all, money, time, and energy to the party, and yet we hoped it was shaped to take Nigeria to the next level. But these elements who have hijacked the party don’t mean well, and it’s no use staying put.”
He confirmed he will be deciding on the next chapter of his political career in the coming weeks.

Prince Ralph Odua is a long-time political ally of Deacon Darlington Okpebholo Ray, also from Esan North East LGA of Edo State, who had earlier resigned from the party. Odua’s exit marks yet another high-profile defection from the PDP’s diaspora wing and further fuels concerns over the party’s internal cohesion ahead of the 2027 general elections.
