China has strongly opposed the United State threat of military intervention in Nigeria, describing it as interference under the guise of religion or human rights.
The Chinese government firmly supports Nigeria’s development path, suited to its national conditions, according to Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning, in a press briefing on Tuesday.
“As a comprehensive strategic partner, China firmly supports the Nigerian government in leading its people to follow a development path suited to its national conditions,” Mao Ning said.
“We oppose any country using religion or human rights as an excuse to interfere in other countries’ internal affairs and reject threats of sanctions or military coercion,” she added.
Recall that The US President Donald Trump announced plans for possible military intervention in Nigeria, claiming the government had failed to curb violence against Christians.
