The All Progressives Congress (APC) has solidified its support for President Bola Tinubu’s anticipated 2027 re-election bid, with the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) formally endorsing him as the party’s sole presidential candidate. This endorsement, initiated by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma and seconded by Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, points to a growing intra-party consensus favoring Tinubu’s leadership and reform agenda.

Governor Uzodimma, speaking on behalf of the PGF, pledged that the governors would mobilize support and deliver their states for Tinubu, citing confidence in his leadership and reforms.

Truth Live News gathered that this move aligns with earlier endorsements from various APC blocs. Notably, the North-Central APC Forum, led by Chairman Saleh Zazzaga, has expressed unwavering support for Tinubu, highlighting the administration’s significant contributions to infrastructure, security, and inclusive appointments in the region.

In the South-East and South-South regions, the APC has witnessed a surge in support, marked by defections from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and endorsements from key political figures. For instance, Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State publicly declared his support for Tinubu’s second-term bid, emphasizing the president’s commitment to national development.

Similarly, in Abia State, APC stakeholders, including former Governor Orji Uzor Kalu, have united to endorse Tinubu for 2027, aiming to consolidate the party’s strength and challenge the incumbent Labour Party administration.

Despite these endorsements, internal party dynamics reveal some dissent. Former President Muhammadu Buhari has been approached by APC governors to reaffirm his support for Tinubu amidst speculations of his potential alignment with opposition coalitions led by figures like Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi.

Moreover, while the North-Central APC Forum stands firmly behind Tinubu, other northern groups, such as the Arewa Consultative Forum and its youth wing, have expressed reservations, citing socio-economic challenges and advocating for a northern presidential candidate in 2027.

Nonetheless, the APC’s National Executive Committee (NEC) has passed a vote of confidence in President Tinubu, with party leaders rallying behind the mantra “No vacancy in Aso Rock,” signaling strong institutional support for his re-election campaign.

As the 2027 election approaches, these developments indicate a concerted effort within the APC to consolidate support for President Tinubu, while also navigating internal and external political challenges.
