Amid growing rumours of his resignation, Bayo Ojulari, the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, made a notable virtual appearance at an industry event organised by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Nigerian Council on Monday.

Ojulari, who participated in the event via a live video feed, addressed stakeholders and professionals in the petroleum sector, reaffirming NNPC’s commitment to sustainable energy reforms and innovation. The event, which attracted industry experts and key players in Nigeria’s oil and gas landscape, focused on emerging trends, strategic energy transitions, and local content development.

His virtual presence was part of an official assignment and served as a subtle yet clear response to recent speculations making the rounds online about his purported resignation from the national oil company.

Although Ojulari did not address the rumours directly, his active participation at the SPE forum has been interpreted by many as a firm indication that he remains at the helm of affairs at NNPC Limited.

Industry observers say his continued visibility on official platforms reaffirms stability within the upper echelons of the oil giant, especially at a time when the sector is grappling with global energy transitions and domestic policy reforms.

The NNPC is yet to issue an official statement regarding the resignation rumours, but sources close to the company have described the speculations as “unfounded and misleading.”
