The Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has alleged plans by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to incite violence aimed at disrupting the ongoing Tribunal proceedings in Benin City.

Speaking at a press briefing, PDP chieftain Barrister Tony Ehilebor revealed what he described as credible intelligence suggesting that individuals disguised as PDP supporters have been mobilized by the APC to create chaos at the High Court premises where the Tribunal is sitting.

“We have credible information that individuals posing as PDP supporters have been mobilized by the APC to cause chaos at the High Court premises,” Ehilebor stated.

He clarified that the PDP had not instructed or invited any of its members or support groups to be present at the Tribunal. “The individuals currently assembling outside the court premises are imposters,” he said.

Ehilebor urged security agencies to act swiftly to ensure the safety of judges, lawyers, and all parties involved in the Tribunal process.

The Tribunal proceedings, which are being closely watched, have heightened tensions in the state, prompting calls for calm and vigilance from all stakeholders.
