The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, may be set to take severe hit and consequently lose all elective posts in Edo North after members of the party loyal to Chief Dan Orbih, national vice chairman, were conspicuously missing at the recent Edo North Senatorial rally of the party which took place in Auchi.

Those that were absent include at the All important rally were National Vice-Chairman, South-South, himself, Members of the state working committee and state Executive members from the Senatorial district.

Also absent were elected local government party chairmen; ward chairmen and their executive members; candidates that were in litigation with Obaseki’s candidates also boycotted the rally.

Notable leaders from Edo North Senatorial District also stayed away.

Observers say that this absence might well explain why the rally was poorly attended.

Internal rancour in PDP has resulted in the PDP being divided against itself in the state.

Observers also say that the absence of the faction shows there seem to be no end to the crisis two weeks to the general election.

Reports are rife too that the other faction of the party loyal to the governor are in panic mode.

Though no governorship election will hold this year, Godwin Obaseki will sleep easier if his faction of the party wins the election.

Reacting to the absence of notable PDP leaders at the rally, a stakeholder of the party who preferred anonymity said the bad treatment suffered by party members under Obaseki’s administration and his unbridled greed in supporting only candidates who came with him to the Party has foreclosed efforts at possible reconciliation.

The source also added that Obaseki would reap bountiful fruits of his divisive politics.

“The rally was poorly attended, let no one deceive you.

“All the PDP candidates in Edo North will loose woefully,” the source added
